A very early issue. With 86 magnificent full page illustrations, many smaller illustrations and a portrait frontispiece all by Gustave Dore. Folio (12.5 by 9.3/4inches), in the original bright red decorated publisher's cloth, the upper cover with pictorial decorations of a rabbit and frogs in gilt and with gilt ruling to the borders and with lettering in gilt at the top and bottom of the cover, the spine also elaborately decorated and lettered in gilt, rear cover paneled in blind, a.e.g. lxiv, 839, 4 ads. A very handsome and pleasing copy, the original cloth bright and well preserved, uncommon for this title, a solid copy, internally clean and bright. A desirable copy.
