Some rubbing to extremities, light soiling, spine somewhat darkened, vellum just starting to crack through pastedowns, front hinge cracked, text secure. Title page of Mercier printed in red and black, large woodcut printer devices to title pages. Light toning, interiors otherwise fresh. Nice copies of three scarce titles. * Siccama: first edition; Mercier and David: second editions. These three works dealing with equity had long lives. Siccama's is a historical work on the practice of the ancient Roman chancery court (Centumvirali). Mercier's is a practice manual first published in 1587, David's addresses definitions of equity in the Institutes of Justinian. It was first published in 1583. Though reissued and anthologized well into the eighteenth century, all editions of these three are scarce. Of these editions, OCLC locates 17 copies of the Siccama (none in North America), 3 copies of Mercier and 2 copies of the David.
