Greenaway, Peter:
Peter Greenaway: Luper at Compton Verney.

136 Seiten Broschiert.

Ein gutes und sauberes Exemplar. - Ausstellungskatalog. - Peter Greenaway is one of the most original filmmakers working anywhere in the world today. At Compton Verney, Greenaway re-visits the setting of his first feature film, The Draughtsman's Contract (1982), a thriller played out against the backdrop of an English country estate. In this setting Greenaway introduces the figure of Tulse Luper (sometime hero of his earlier films and possibly Greenaway's alter-ego) to act as a guide and interpreter of events and their impact on the house and landscape. As a writer, collector, cataloguer and professional list-maker Luper is fascinated by traces, systems, maps, numbers and artifacts. The exhibition explores the connections between objects, events and ideas, re-peopling the house and bringing the collections and building to life. At the heart of the exhibition is a collection of 92 suitcases that Luper has supposedly abandoned on his travels. The contents provide clues to his existence, his obsessions, the people he has met, and the places he has visited. Peter Greenaway trained as an artist and represents a unique voice in cinema with a body of work including The Belly of an Architect, The Cook, the Thief, his Wife, and others. His projects extend to theatre and opera including Writing to Vermeer (1999) for the Musiektheatre, Amsterdam as well as numerous exhibitions The Physical Self for the Boymansvan Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam and Flying Out of This World for the Louvre, Paris.
