paperback. Zustand: Molto buono (Very Good). Catalogo della mostra aalo Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam 18 gennaio - 4 marzo 1979. Un testo dell'Artista in inglese e olandese. 7 tavole a colori e alcune illustrazioni in nero nel testo . 8vo. pp. 32. . Molto buono (Very Good). . . . Book.

[7], [1 blank] pp.First and only edition of a proclamation by the province of Zeeland noting that certain people were buying up grain in large quantities to artificially inflate the price, so that they could sell it back at a large profit or export it, to the detriment of the local population. It explicitly refers to it as a "monopolie" causing famine and poverty. The provincial government therefore proclaimed temporary restrictions: grain is to be sold only at the weekly public markets, except in a few specified special circumstances. Bulk purchasers can buy the unsold grain only after a specified time, and they are prohibited from exporting it out of the province without consent. Printed by Richard Schilders (ca. 1538-1634!), one of the most prolific printers of his day.In fine condition and wholly untrimmed. A nice example of official printing by Richard Schilders, remarkably well preserved.l Typ. Batava 6913 (7 copies, incl. 1 damaged & at least 1 a variant); not in STCN.

IV, [5]-46 pp.First edition of the English translation of an eye-witness account of slavery in Africa. The French writer Jacques Salbigoton Quesné (1778-1859) mentions in the introduction that one day he heard of a man returning to Paris after being enslaved for 34 years in Africa. Reckoning his tale must be very suitable for publication, he invited this man, Pierre Joseph Dumont, to his house. "It was agreed between us, that he should repair to my house every day, to furnish me with data that were to serve as a basis of an history of the thirty-seven years of his absence" (introduction). Dupont gives detailed information on the lives of Christian slaves: where they live, what they wear and eat, what happens when one gets sick or commits suicide, how the Arab masters treat them, etc.Offsetting of the frontispiece to the title-page, some occasional foxing. Otherwise in good condition, wholly untrimmed.l L. Croegaert, The African continent, p. 124; Huntress 198C; not in Hogg.

IX, [1 blank], 351, [1]; X, 341, [1 blank], [2] pp.First edition of a travel account by the Irish-born adventurer in Russian service, Peter Dobell (1772-1852). "Dobell arrived in Kamtchatka by sea in 1812, This journal records his personal observations of the manners, customs, population, religion, and resources during his fifteen years of traveling in China and Siberia. Much of his time, approximately seven years, he operated as a trader based in China; the second half of volume two describes his experiences and residence there (which had begun in 1798). Dobell indicates that his observations concentrate on the "wonderful works of nature" in order that the reader may learn "how rich and interesting a region is Siberia, heretofore only represented to the imagination in the most gloomy and unattractive colors". The two excellent frontispieces illustrate this Siberian life, French and Russian translations followed this English edition" (Hill). Spines chipped, otherwise in very good condition and wholly untrimmed.l Abbey, Travel 352; Cat. Russica 645; Georg Fischer lib. 157; Hill 484.
