[Thriller] FIRST US EDITION, AUTHOR'S PERSONAL COPIES (two varying copies), signed. Octavo (22 x 15cm), pp.317; [3]. Publisher's hardcover in pictorial dust-wrapper showing the original price of $13.95, the other copy in a simple mock-up jacket of some vintage (likely contemporary) with a typographical design. Each book is autographed by John Gardner to the title page with his manuscript note 'Author's Copy'. Both are in near fine condition. The dummy jacket is a somewhat crude Xerox, possibly created by the author to identify a jacketless copy. Our own Jon Gilbert, bibliographer of Ian Fleming, dealt with both John Gardner and his son Simon (The John Gardner Estate). Over the years we have been able to offer several of Gardner's James Bond manuscripts, as well as personal copies and other signed related material. BMC No.1 [1984] p.4-13 'James Bond Revivals', Gilbert, page 613.

6 works, octavo. In original publisher's red and blue wrappers. 2 copies with dust jackets (Licence Renewed and Role of Honour). Near-fine copies, slight rubbing, minor creasing to spines, otherwise in excellent condition for proof copies, in like dust jackets. First editions, of all of the scarce uncorrected proof copies of Gardner's James Bond continuation novels. The fourth work in this collection bears the title Nobody Lives Forever on the spine and front wrapper, while the first published edition was alternatively titled Nobody Lives for Ever. Following No Deals, Mr. Bond, the James Bond book franchise was entirely given over from Jonathan Cape to Hodder & Stoughton, who generally issued advance copies of the regular hardcover editions accompanied by a review slip. These copies are from the significant Ian Fleming collection of Martin Schøyen (b.1940), with his bookplate. Schøyen's private collection of manuscripts, which span all cultures and all time periods, is one of the largest and most comprehensive of its kind. Gilbert, p. 613;The Schøyen Collection Nos. 286, 294, 303, 310, 314, 319.
