Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Essay from the year 2003 in the subject Pedagogy - Media Pedagogy, grade: 1,0, Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (University of Applied Sciences Hamburg), course: Medienpädagogik, language: English, abstract: This article will discuss if, and to what extent, media educational social work is practiced in the German public access television channel 'Offener Kanal Hamburg.' 'Offener Kanal Hamburg' is producing and broadcasting programs made by non-professional local residents, many of them socially marginalized groups, like migrants or old people; but also children and teenagers are supported in their 'first steps' as TV-producers. These groups are trained and supported by permanently employed editors. I will begin by describing the role of 'Offener Kanal' for media educational work in general. Then I will give a more precise definition of media educational social work - as a part of social work. I will conclude by determining whether the work of public access channels can be described as media educational social work and I will show the role that institutions like the 'Offener Kanal' play for cooperative projects in the area of media educational social work.

Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Essay from the year 2006 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Region: Near East, Near Orient, grade: 1,7, Ben Gurion University (Middle East Institute), course: Politics and Society of Israel, language: English, abstract: When we look at the contemporary discussions inside and outside Israel, we see a tendency to question the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish State. This criticism comes from two different perspectives. On the one hand it is questioned if a Jewish State - defined by the law of Halakha in important personal matters like marriage and divorce and in several public affairs, such as no public transportations on Shabbat - is contradicting individual rights, such as freedom of religion and women's rights. On the other hand it is questioned if the idea of a Jewish State is compatible with the value of democracy, equal citizen rights for all citizens - including the Arab Israelis - and incompatible with human rights. This essay aims to prove that a Jewish State is an essential part of the world community in order to ensure human rights inside and outside of Israel and justified from the perspective of 21st century values. In order to make this point, we have to examine three things: First: Are the values that led to the Zionist demand of a homeland for the Jewish people still values of the 21st century and is this demand still justified Second: Does the Idea of a Jewish State contradict the values of the 21st century Third: Does the reality of all civilians inside the Jewish and democratic State of Israel contradict the values of the 21st century In this essay we will first define the term 'Jewish State', as it was defined in the early ages of Zionism by Herzl in his book 'Der Judenstaat' (1896) and the Basle Congress in 1897. We refer to Herzl because he is regarded as the founder of modern Jewish nationalism, as expressed in the Zionist idea, and as the father of modern Israel.

It views issues, such as the 1948 war, the traetment of Misrachi Jews and raises the question if a Jewish state is racist and colonialistic and excludes minorities, such as Arab Israelis. It aims to show that the criticism of the so-called 'New Historians' is partly justified in its content but ignores the historical and regional context of Israel.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2006 in the subject Orientalism / Sinology - Islamic Studies, grade: 1,3, Ben Gurion University (Middle East Institute), course: Religious and Ethnic Minorities/ Communities in the Modern Middle East, language: English, abstract: During the 1919 revolution, under the slogan 'Egypt for Egyptians', the Copts fought hand in hand with their Muslim brothers for national independence of Egypt from Britain. The banner of the revolution was a cross within a crescent, the ancient incompatibility of Christianity and Islam seemed to be abolished.Only one decade earlier this unity seemed impossible, after the assassination of the Copt Prime Minister Butrus Ghali, the mob in the streets of Cairo had been praising the murder with slogans, such as:' Wasrani (the name of the killer), Wasrani, who killed the nasrani (Christian)'. And the Coptic newspaper Al-Watan had stated in 1908 that 'The Copts are the true Egyptians and the Islamic conquest of Egypt was oppressive'. The role of the Copts in the national movement is as complex and ambiguous as the national movement itself. We have to weight and consider various factors together in order to understand the different roles of the Copts in the movement during this period. We also have to differentiate between Coptic Clerks, fellahin and urban Copts as well as between the Muslim mob and the Muslim leaders of the national movement, latter often influenced by ideas of western enlightenment. This paper will examine the factors that determined the role of the Coptic minority in the Muslim-dominated national movement between its emergence in 1879 and the 1919 revolution from different perspectives. This includes a discussion of the role of the British policy, the question of social integration and juridical equality/ exclusion as a distinguished religious community from the (Muslim) majority, the degree of Islamisation or secularisation of the national movement and the role of sectarian strife between Muslims and Copts, mainly incited by the British policy of 'divide and rule'. Further influences discussed in this paper are the fear of the Copts to be persecuted or isolated if they don't participate in the movement and the chances of the movement to succeed.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2006 in the subject Politics - Region: Near East, Near Orient, grade: 1, Ben Gurion University (Middle East Sciences), course: Israel and Arabs - between war and peace, language: English, abstract: In February 1982, the Syrian city of Hama became well-known worldwide as the place of the 'Hama massacre'. After a large and long-planned uprising of Muslim rebels against Asad and the Ba'th party, mainly organised by the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood, Syrian government forces crushed the rebellion with brutal force. An estimated number of 20.000 to 40.000 citizens were killed by Syrian army units under the control of General Ali Haydar, 15.000 missing persons have not been found until today. This incident evoked heavy condemnation of the so-called 'pro-Moscow military regime' of Asad in the German press. It was accused of 'beeing one of the bloodiest regimes in the Middle East, shaken from fear of espionage and with pro-soviet declarations and refusal of any peace policy overbidding itself every day anew.' (Ranke, P.M., 'Nur noch mit Gewalt', Die Welt, 12.2.1982). The Asad regime was portrayed in West German newspapers in exactly the same way as in the writings of the Muslim Brotherhood, as a sectarian minority regime, and little distinction was made between the goals of the Brotherhood and the goals of the Syrian people in general. This paper analyses the reasons, supporters and consequences of the Hama massacre, focussing on the triangle between Asad, the Muslim Brotherhood and West Germany. I will analyse, why the Muslim Brotherhood in exile acted mainly from West Germany in its fight against Asad, and why West Germany supported or tolerated those actions. I will furthermore analyse the interests of different groups and countries, internal, regional and international, involved in the Hama incident - and elaborate why they were interested in a destabilisation of Syria. On a global level, I will consider the Hama incident in terms of cold war and the involvement of the Superpowers USA and USSR in the Middle East in the early 1980s.

Originalbroschur. ISBN 9783899302288 Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 550.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu.
