November 1909 6. August 2003) war ein britischer Seemann, Schriftsteller und Soldat im Zweiten Weltkrieg. Seligman kaufte auf Anraten von Joseph Stenhouse , einem Kommandeur der Royal Navy und ehemaligen Teilnehmer an Ernest Shackletons Discovery Expedition , eine 250 Tonnen schwere französische Barquentine zum Fischen mit dem Namen Cap Pilar . Im Jahr 1936 brachen Seligman, seine Frau Jane Batterbury und eine sechsköpfige Besatzung zu einer Reise um die Welt auf. Das Projekt wurde teilweise von der Londoner Tageszeitung News Chronicle finanziert.
