[Politics] FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR. Octavo (25 x 17cm), pp.322. In a leather-style binding blocked in gilt, likely by The Easton Press (although unspecified). With warm presentation note to half-title; "To Sheila MacKellow | with appreciation for her | loyal friendship over | the years- | from | Richard Nixon | 12-28-92". Lightly handled, minor rubbing to covers. The recipient was a devout British Christian and a correspondent of President Nixon who first wrote to him with words of support during the Watergate crisis. A friendship flourished, their letters continued, and she received several inscribed books as gifts. Upon Mrs Mackellow's death her collection was either unsuccessful or withdrawn from public auction and subsequently acquired by ourselves via her solicitor. A nice association.
