Black pebbled cloth. Gilt title on spine. The third volume (comprising Monocotylodons, and phytogeography) of a work published in three volumes (the first in two parts), with a supplement. This is of one of the most important floras of Indonesia. Rare, especially when complete, but individual volumes are very seldom-seen too. Former owner's stamp of Prof. Dr. P. An important botanical atlas of Indonesia by the Dutch botanist of German descent, Friedrich Anton Wilhelm Miquel (1811-1871). This was his last work. Very well illustrated. Includes the descriptions of new species. Published as supplement to the academy's Verhandlungen, or Novorum Actorum. Plates 62 and 63 bound in reverse order. Stamp on Latin title. Some scattered, light foxing, but apparently less than usual, and in all a very good copy. Pritzel, 6266. Not in Nissen BBI.

Rare, especially when complete. However, this set consists of parts I(2), II, and III only; lacking I(1) and the later supplement. All front boards are date 1860. However, this is only a working copy, as it lacks plate VII, and the frontispiece to volume III. Some copies have an additional, Dutch title, but in this set all titles are in Latin. Rebacked, with the old spines laid down, but subsequently much worn, front hinge of the volume I(1) broken front board and a few text leaves detached; the Supplement with extensive worming in the lower margin, the Rumphius plate with some small worming in the lower margin.
