Chipping and small tears to edges of title page and endpages. Light silverfishing to reverse of final plate (The Castle, Nottingham.) Pencil sketch of a vase to obverse of rear free endpaper. This book was once owned by Allen W. Jackson, a Bostonian architect and author of "The Half-Timber House" (1912), and as such has his name plate to the spine and his pencil signature on the top edge of the title page. Collated, complete.Two large paper volumes, first thus following this work's publication in parts from 1897. In uniform half morocco bindings. Rebound in uniform half morocco bindings. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear, a touch of fading to back strip, minor rubbing to extremities. Hinges cloth reinforced. Many leaves loose as commonly seen with this work due to gutta percha. Spotting affecting endpapers, otherwise pages bright and clean.
