[Biography] FIRST EDITION. Octavo (23 x 17cm), pp.[xx]; 301; [2], advertisements. Illustrated with numerous photos, plates and in-text line drawings, including several in colour. Bound in early quarter brown calf over blue cloth sides with red morocco title label to spine, ruled in gilt to same, original pictorial endpapers retained, top edge gilt. Old repair to half title (likely when rebound), some light spotting but contents generally clean, edges spotted, binding pleasingly aged with spine sunned and corners a little bumped. Very good.

Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. NEW EDITION, reprinted with minor alterations in December 1905, shortly after the first printing of October the same year. 4to. (9 x 6.6 inches). Fully illustrated with fifty three colour plates. each with a printed tissue guard, and ninety mono illustrations. A fine and bright copy bound in attractive late twentieth century half dark green morocco. Spine with raised bands, each decorated with gilt piping. The compartments are ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Green cloth and ruled gilt borders on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. A little light spotting to a few pages otherwise a near fine copy in a lovely leather binding. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a master bookbinder.

The text focuses on her working career, her friendships with John Ruskin and Randolph Caldecott, her public art exhibitions, and gives a bibliography of her illustrations. Publisher's blind stamped white cloth with sunning to spine, old repair to front hing; illustrated endpapers, teg, gift inscription on endpaper; drawing has a few stray ink marks that are outside of the image 53 color plates with printed tissue guards; 34 black-and-white plates; 56 text illustrations; 301 pp. 4to "Edition De Luxe," limited, number 211 of 500 copies.
