Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Academic Paper from the year 2005 in the subject Sociology - Knowledge and Information, grade: 1.0, Oxford University (Campion Hall), language: English, abstract: The importance given to knowledge in relation to business success has never been so great as it is today and there is a substantive amount of important and informed studies reflecting this. Nonetheless, informed approaches by prominent authors generally focus on knowledge transfer mechanisms and the efficiency of these mechanisms to support and deliver competitive advantage. An overarching objective of understanding efficient knowledge transfer is therefore a central caveat for businesses wishing to achieve success and maintain competitive advantage since it is clear that any significant degradation of efficiency will directly affect this objective. Many studies do recognise the creation of knowledge as a significant factor in determining how effectively a business develops, and knowledge creation is used as a baseline for numerous historic and current studies. To date, however, there have been few studies which denote the affect of socio-cultural or religious phenomena within a transfer scenario as significant, and how this interaction may affect the outcome of the knowledge shared or exchanged in a business context. This paper therefore examines how, in a business context, knowledge transfer is influenced by perspectives given to the knowledge. This rational is deliberate since the transfer of knowledge is rarely a simple unproblematic event. In this regard, we look at a significant amount of literature and research which has been constructed in a bid to understand both the problematic nature surrounding the mechanics of the transfer sequence and definition of the term 'knowledge' to support the establishment of meaningful baselines. The paper then summarises these theoretical baselines into segmented contexts with deliberate intention.

Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Academic Paper from the year 2019 in the subject Philosophy - Practical (Ethics, Aesthetics, Culture, Nature, Right, .), grade: 1.00, Edinburgh Napier University, language: English, abstract: In this discussion, the author reflects on the value given to knowledge in a business context and deliberate a contrary philosophical perspective which does not conform to prevailing knowledge theory. It will be considered why, if knowledge is key for business success and competitive advantage, the transfer of knowledge within an organisation remains problematic. Whereby, if the creation of knowledge before transfer is recognised is a significant factor in determining a starting point for analogous scrutiny, then what makes this focal point so difficult to establish and measure It is therefore considered parallelism between agents who believe propositions and the formal system that derives proposition. In doing so, we synthesise from current literature and research, the epistemic principal of 'knowledge', which underpins the understanding of the many congruent knowledge transfer theories, in a business context. To do this we reflect on Lindström and the epistemic states of Spohn, wherein, we can draw on descriptions of conditional doxastic maps, as a natural extension of contemporary Kripke models. We conclude the epistemic principle of 'knowledge', which underpins the plausibility of comparisons between epistemically distinguishable knowledge transfer, must include perspectives and doyennes from a recognisable, not implied, value standpoint.

  • Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2013 in the subject Business economics - Business Ethics, Corporate Ethics, grade: 1.0, Edinburgh Napier University (Business School), language: English, abstract: This study seeks to understand knowledge transfer practices within the Muslim business community in Edinburgh. It investigates how knowledge transfer practices are managed on a day to day basis, examines the route of development and justification for these practices into meaningful knowledge transfer processes, and explores the underlying perspective of knowledge from the knowledge transfer practitioners view of knowledge transfer practices in a business context. In particular, the study seeks explanations for such practices with reference to both a knowledge-based and a resource-based view of the firm. Due to the multifarious phenomena of knowledge transfer, and to allow a scope necessary to establish epistemological and empirical evidence from literature, a two stage literature review process was adopted. The majority of literature expounds an argument in which knowledge and knowledge transfer processes in a business context are embedded within a set of real world dimensions, based on causal relationships. Literature determines that it is overcoming difficulties with this framework which is critical for a businesses ability to manage, utilise and extract value from multiple internal and external sources of knowledge. Four broad themes were identified, from which most literature supported this argument: Psychological, Organisational, Philosophical and Cultural. Data collection and analysis were carried out in two phases. Phase one was based on ethnographic participant observation which proved unsuccessful due to an underestimation of the complexity of the participants personal perspective and researcher bias. Phase two was informed by the difficulties encountered in phase one and proved successful in capturing meaningful data. Following a thematic logic, themes were carefully unpacked in an iterative process, so that an understanding of knowledge transfer experiences within the Muslim business community in Edinburgh became clear. In summary, the study provides a deep understanding of the knowledge transfer practices in the Muslim business community in Edinburgh. Through the systematic and dialectic analysis of knowledge transfer participants daily practices, the details and dynamisms underpinning knowledge transfer processes are revealed.

U. a. mit: Jean Claude Guimberteau, Susan Chapelle, Michael Kuchera, Gerald Pollack, Paul Standley, Karen Shermann, Thomas Findley, Carla Stecco, Robert Schleip, Geoffrey Bove and many moreThe Third International Fascia Research Congress, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, March 28-30, 2012. The sold-out conference, attended by 800 people, was hosted by the Massage Therapists Association of British Columbia (MTABC). The selection of the MTABC by the directors of the Fascia Research Congress, a project of the Ida P. Rolf Research Foundation, was a recognition of the excellence, quality and commitment of BC s Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs). The 2012 Fascia Congress, as always, centered on the latest and best research on the human fasciae. Three full days of scientific presentations were flanked by additional days of practical workshops, and a research training and project funding symposium. Conference programm: The Third International Fascia Research Congress will focus on the latest and best research on the human fasciae. Additionally, in recognition of the interests of clinicians in gaining insights that will bear on practical applications, the program is designed to include more presentation time given to relating the research findings to clinical issues. Wednesday, March 28 Thursday, March 29 Friday, March 30 Wednesday, March 28 Keynote Speaker Mary F. Barbe, PhD Changes in Fascia Related to Repetitive Motion Disorders We have developed a voluntary rat model of repetitive reaching and grasping that permits the examination of tissue responses to non-weight bearing muscular loads in upper extremity tissues, as well as mechanisms and effects of repetition induced inflammation. With performance of high repetition tasks, early inflammation was observed that was accompanied by musculoskeletal tissue adaptive remodeling. However, with continued task performance, pathological remodeling was induced, such as fibrotic repair in tendons, muscles, nerves and their fascial sheaths. We have now embarked on an exploration of interventions strategies to target the early inflammatory responses and promote non-fibrotic tissue repair. Keynote Speaker Michael Kjaer, MD, DMSc Adaptation of Tendinous Connective Tissues to Exercise Connective tissue in tendon and skeletal muscle represents a dynamic structure that adapts to physical activity. The matrix turnover e.g. of collagen can be influenced by the level of mechanical loading, and cells (fibroblast) within the tissue demonstrate remarkable capacity to adjust to environmental conditions. In addition the formation of cross-links contributes to the mechanical properties of the matrix structures in tendon and muscle. Factors like gender, type of training and age will largely influence the adaptation of tendon tissue largely due to influence of growth factors in combination with mechanical loading. Lunch and Posters Parallel Sessions Paper/Oral by Selected Abstract Authors Panel Scars and Adhesion Panel Although not openly discussed, manual therapy treatments seem to be designed to identify and treat pathological connections between structures, called adhesions, and to treat scars that form following injury. Both are due to the normal healing process, but both can cause adverse symptoms, and thus patient presentations in the manual therapist s practice. Pathological adhesions in the abdomen have been recognized as a source of disease for more than 100 years, but adhesions or scars in the rest of the body have received scant attention. There is but little research on scars as a source of pain or other symptoms. This panel is aimed at raising the concept of scars and adhesions as a source of symptoms within the manual therapist s practice. Geoffrey Bove, DC, Phd moderator Hal Brown, DC, ND, RAc Susan Chapelle, RMT Michael Diamond, MD Jean Claude Guimberteau, MD Keynote Speaker Albert J. Banes, PhD Mechanical Loading & Fascial Changes Tendon Focus Gene array results from positional and power tendons as well as cultured tenocytes have shown that anabolic and catabolic genes associated with matrix formation and degradation are highly expressed. Moreover, tenocytes share common expression patterns with striated skeletal muscle more so than with osteoblasts. Minor injury to a tendon drives a cell survival pathway, decreases cell stiffness, and increases cell-cell communication, while major injury, along with interleukin-1b drives a negative feedback loop stimulating expression of "bad"cytokines, such as TNF-a, resulting in apoptosis. Within hours of stimuli, tenocytes express key transcription factors such as myostatin, scleraxis and Mohawk, that regulate tendon-specific genes. Together, the panoply of modulated genes comprise compartments of a "tendinome", or a group of genes expressed during development, maturity, repair or in pathology. The Tendinome: Gene Expression Profile of Tenocytes in Development, Maturation, Response to Injury, Repair and Pathology. Banes, Qi, Sumanasinghe, et al. Welcome Reception ^ Top of page ^ Thursday, March 29 Keynote Speaker Rolf K. Reed, PhD Fluid Dynamics The lecture will focus on the "active" role of the loose connective tissues in control of transcapillary transport of fluid and protein, i.e. their role in control of edema formation. Normally the extracellular, extravascular volume in the tissues is kept within narrow limits via automatic readjustments by the transcapillary pressures and lymph flow. In inflammation, a lowering of interstitial fluid pressure in this space has been demonstrated to be a major driving force for creating the rapidly forming edema of acute inflammatory reactions. In burn injury to skin, pressure can fall from slightly below ambient pressure to -100 mmHg to become the "active" driving pressure for the edema formation. A similar, although not as extensive, fall in interstitial pressure has been demonstrated in several acute inflammatory reactions and involves perturbation of the collagen bin.
