Manuskript / Papierantiquität
Manchester 25.V.1906. 3 Seiten 8°. Mit geprägtem Briefkopf. Leicht fleckig. William Boyd Dawkins (1837-1929), walisischer Geologe und Paläontologe. - An Robert Dunlop, einen anthropologisch Interessierten. ". Fig. 117 of Ripley's 'Races' is a fair example of Lancashire & Yorkshire type, with a tendancy to fair complexion and brown hair. Fig. 136 represents an Irishman with a trace of Iberic blood . It is, in my opinion, impossible to represent a typical Irishman, Scot & Englishman, because the types present in all three regions are practically the same . The Iberic & Goidelic types are clearly marked. I am, however, unable to picture to myself the Brythonic or the Low Germanic types in Britain, because of their extraordinary variety, and because the fair & the dark haired races are so intermingled by marriage .".
