A wealthy banker wishes for an angel to marry after his most recent engagement ends, but when an actual angel flies into his life, he finds her perfection suffocating. The show opened at the Shubert Theatre on May 11, 1938 and ran for 338 performances, closing on February 25, 1939. The production was later adapted for film by MGM in 1942, directed by W. S.
