'Rarely does the grasp of a book effectively match its reach; rarer still is the book that, in doing so, instantly places itself among the scholarly standard in its field. Such ist he quality of the present work. Edited by Aristide Tessitore, this eclectic collection of essays serves to illustrate the ways in which the perceived shortcomings of modern liberal politics can be understood, if not corrected, with reference to several of Aristotle?s writings. This achievement cannot be overstated: that Aristotle is important, albeit historically, is unassailable; that he is still relevant is the genius of this book. The success of this book is due, in large part, to its dialectical character, Tessitore tell us in his introduction that the book is animated by two related themes: that there has been a renaissance in modern Aristotelian scholarship, and that modern political discours is the product of perennial questions and dilemmas to which Aristotle may possess some insight. Put together they constitute the foundations by which such a variety of authors with widely varied approaches might fit beneath the same situational umbrella.? (JEREMY J. MHIRE in International Journal of Classical Tradition, 2005, p.490). Antiquarian.
