Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: vg. First edition. Short folio. Unpaginated. Magnificently illustrated with 815 b/w facsimile photographs of the artwork of Dosso Dossi. Red cloth with decorative gold lettering on spine protected by original lovely decorative dj. Thick, blue ornamental front and rear endpapers. Text in Italian. Minor age wear to dj. Dj in good, book in near fine condition. Dosso Dossi, (a.k.a. Giovanni di Niccolò de Leturi, circa 1490 - 1542) the Italian Renaissance painter of the Ferrara School of Painting. His work is known less for its naturalism or attention to design and more for cryptic allegorical conceits in paintings around mythological and religious themes.
