Newhart (* 5. September 1929 in Oak Park, Illinois) ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler und Stand-up-Comedian. Newhart startete seine Karriere 1959 zunächst als Textschreiber und Stand-Up-Comedian in Clubs. Sein erstes Comedy-Album The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart erschien 1961 und wurde mit zwei Grammy Awards ausgezeichnet. Im US-Fernsehen hatte Newhart mehrere eigene Sitcoms. Auf NBC lief von 1972 bis 1978 The Bob Newhart Show (142 Folgen). 1982 bis 1990 produzierte CBS Newhart mit 184 Folgen. Er war außerdem Gaststar in anderen Shows, unter anderem hatte er 24 Auftritte in der Dean Martin Show. Ab 1960 arbeitete Newhart auch als Schauspieler in Spielfilmen und Fernsehserien.
