Erstausgabe
First edition. Cloth with dust jacket. Very good copy in good dust jacket. Book with no major flaws, few little streaks of discoloration at top edge of rear board, where the jacket was once in wet contact with the board. Contemporary owner's name (Esther Solar) on half-title. Dust jacket generally worn along the top edge with a triangular chip there on the front and rear panels, top of spine panel shallowly chipped, old nonprofessional tape repairs along the hinge to the back inside flap on the blank side of the jacket. Price of $2.50 intact on front flap. Map endpapers of the battlegrounds around Madrid. A memoir of the Spanish Civil War. Regler served as political commissar of the XII International Brigade; at the time a convinced Communist with years of experience in the Soviet-led movement, he later broke with the Communists based among other factors on his experiences in Spain.
