Speaking includes Speech of Hannibal to the Carthaginian Army; Hannibal's speech to Scipio Africanus before the Battle of Zama; Scipio's reply; Caius Marius to the Romans; Publius Scipio to the Roman Army before the Battle of Ticin; Adherbal to the Roman Senate, imploring their assistance against Jagurtha; Canuleius to the Consuls; Demosthenes to the Athenians; Aneeas to Queen Dido, giving an account of the Sack of Troy. Dramatic pieces, soliloquies: Hamlet's Advice to the Players; Douglas' Account of Himself; Hotspur's Account of the Fop; Lucius' Speech for Peace; Othello's Apology for his Marriage, and more. Calf on board, front board barely hanging by threads, front hinge broken, 1 cm piece missing from spine. Owner name in elegant calligraphy on ffep: "Miss Susan Chalker, Saybrook Ct". Text block foxed. Poor.
