"Second Edition" (so stated to front flap of jacket), AUTHOR'S FIRST BOOK. Sewn sheets in plain black card covers with attached dust jacket. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR "for_____ with best wishes, Michael Ondaatje". Book a little leaned; minor rubbing to the tips and rear joint of the black jacket spine, and to outer corners; else fine. Though the colophon would suggest that there were 500 copies of this edition published November 1967, that statement actually refers to the 1967 hardcover first edition. This second printing (first in paper covers) was issued in 1969, at2.50, in an edition of 500 copies. The jacket, which duplicates the illustration found on the hardcover first, adds quotes from reviews of the book on the rear panel and there is a list of seven Coach House Press books on the rear flap ending with Ondaatje's THE MAN WITH SEVEN TOES (1969). Signed by Author Softcover Octavo.
