Stein, Carol. Accidental Paintings. Robin Hill Studios, 2005.
0.7 x 8.8 x 8.7 Inches; 88 pages; "Accidental Paintings" is a striking selection of 36 abstract color photographs taken in San Miguel de Allende in 2004 and 2005 by photographer Carol Stein. Its subject is surface color and form: its source, the colored edges of built structures and their visual interaction. The result is what can be seen as accidental paintings.
As described in Stein's introduction:
Wandering the streets of San Miguel, I see color. Focusing on built walls--edge or junction point--I find pattern and form: wild splashes creating raindrops or stage sets; broad horizontals banding landscapes; vertical striped urban scenes; Klee-like cubes; fanciful line drawings; fuzzy-edged color fields. For the most part, these colors lying so gently next to each other or colliding with passion just happen to be there. They are accidental paintings.
This is a gem-like book, beautifully printed and assembled, whose rich color images suggest a meditation.. 0976909103.

Hardcover, As New in Near Fine dust jacket.
