Krzysztof Kieslowski und Marek Piwowski verdienen einen Vergleich, weil sie mit dem Dokumentarfilm ihre Karriere begannen, während zum Beispiel Krzysztrof Zanussi im Spielfilm debütierte. Laut Hans-Joachim Schlegel gäbe es eine enge Beziehung zwischen den beiden Gattungen. Sowohl Feuer, Feuer, endlich ist was los (Pozar, pozar, nareszcie cos sie dzieje, 1967) von Marek Piwowski als auch Das Amt (Urzad, 1966) von Krzysztof Kieslowski kommen aus der zweiten Hälfte der 60er Jahre, die in Polen wie auch in vielen osteuropäischen Ländern etwas Neues versprachen und zu bedeutenden Veränderungen und Reformen führten. Beide Filme sind in der Tradition des inszenierten Dokumentarfilms entstanden. Gleichzeitig beschreiben sie die gesellschaftliche Situation der 60er Jahre in Polen. Sie zeigen, wie schwierig und kompliziert Dinge gemacht werden, die viel einfacher zu lösen sind.
