An den Apotheker und Botaniker Ernst Gottfried Hornung (1795-1862) in Aschersleben. Fieber bittet um Unterstützung für sein Werk über die Gattung Potamogeton (Laichkräuter) und über seine botanische Sammeltätigkeit: "[...] Zu vorbesagtem Zweke würde ich daher E. W. recht innigst ersuchen mir soviel möglich die Potamogetonen Ihrer Gegend, in guten Exempl. mit Frucht und Blüthe wenn es angeht zukommen zu lassen [...]" - Fieber studierte 1824-28 am Polytechnischen Institut sowie an der Univ. Prag, wo er sich mit Ökonomie, Verwaltungswissenschaft, neuen Sprachen, insbesondere jedoch mit Zoologie und Botanik beschäftigte. 1832 wurde er Beamter am Appellationsgericht in Prag. Er illustrierte floristische Werke (u. a. von Kaspar Graf von Sternberg) und widmete sich seit 1832 zunehmend der Entomologie. 1838 erschien seine Monographie "Die Potamogeta Böhmens". 1848 wurde er von der Philosophischen Fakultät Jena in absentia promoviert. Er "gehört zu jenen bedeutenden Liebhaber-Entomologen, denen die systematische Insektenkunde im 19. Jh. ihre Blüte verdankt" (NDB V, 139).
