63pp (pages not numbered), illustrated in color in Art Deco style. The story of the Christ child, based on the biblical gospels of Matthew and Luke. Decorative color illustration on front cover, with gilt sun and gilt sun rays, on blue boards. One internal page is about half torn thru, a few others have small tears. Stamped "Professional Library, Omaha Public Schools" on inside front cover and on title page. There is a dedicatory lable pasted on the inside front cover and the signature of a former owner on the front free endpaper. There is a lable of the "Omaha Association for Childhood Education, in Memory of..." on the copyright page. There is a handwritten number (2745) and date (10/43) on the inside margin of the contents page. The edges of the boards show moderate shelf wear. A library catalogue number (232 P44) is handwritten in white ink on the spine. Most of the illustrations are in color, although a few are in black and white. A nice copy. - Small quarto [11-1/4 inches high by 8-7/8 inches wide], pictorial paper covered boards in a matching dust wrapper. The boards are slightly rubbed. The dust jacket is rubbed around the edges with the top edge & the tail of the spine lightly chipped. [61] pages. Profusely illustrated in color and black & white by Maud and Miska Petersham. Near fine in a very good dust wrapper. <p>Early printing. Signed individually by Maud Petersham and Miska Petersham on the half title.

A lovely rendition of the story of the Nativity, the Flight to E gypt, and Jesus' childhood. Large corner crease on one page, moderate edge wear, slight weakness to inside front hinge, light liquid stain on front board - minor soiling elswhere, light rubbing. G+.
