OT.: BRAZILIAN ADVENTURE. (1933).; Im Sommer 1925 unternahm der britische Oberst P.H.Fawcett eine geheimnisvolle Expedition in ein gefährliches und fast unerforschtes Gebiet im Herzen Brasiliens. Er war auf der Suche nach einer seit langem verschollenen Stadt mitten im Dschungel. Er kehrte nie zurück. Anfang der 30er Jahre brach eine Suchexpedion auf, um das Schicksal des britischen Obersten und seiner Expedition zu klären. An dieser nahm der britische Weltenbummler und Sonderkorrespondent der TIMES Peter Flemming (1907 - 1971, Bruder von Ian Fleming und zu großen Anteilen Vorbild für dessen Romanheld James Bond) teil. Seine Erlebnisse auf dier Expedition verstand er in "Brasilianische Abenteuer" eindrucksvoll zu schildern. The expedition may claim to have thrown a little (but not much) light, of a confirmatory nature, on the mystery surrounding Col. Fawcett's disappearance. Otherwise, beyond the completion of a 3000 mile journey, mostly under amusing conditions, through a little-known part of the world, and the discovery of one new tributary to a tributary to a tributary of the Amazon, nothing of importance was achieved. The reader must forgive the author is his picture of Matto Grosso does not tally with your lurid preconceptions . Top rear corner of spine is worn, bottom rear portion of spine is worn, dozens (scores) of foxing-like spots on front and back covers, o/w minor wear on sound binding. Newspaper article about an expedition by Col. Flaviano Mattos Vanique through the"Big Woods" of Brazil is loosely laid-in. Paper is moderately age-browned, with some thumb smudges in the margins, o/w contents are clean and unmarked. No DJ. Good + ..
