Plantin editions, with contemporary or early marginalia throughout. The edition of Valerius is the second from the Plantin press to contain the pseudonymous work 'De praenominibus' (here called 'De nominibus'). The Suetonius, which has eight pages of woodcuts of ancient coins, is held to be the first publication of the Dutch scholar Petrus Scriverius (Pieter Schrijver) (1576-1660) who at the time was twenty years of age. The last work here is an edition of the 'History of the Lombards' by Paulus Diaconus (or 'Paul the Deacon') (720-799), which was a popular text through the Middle Ages.
