Coloured photographic frontispiece, showing " Lake in the Garden of ' Burnham Beeches ', near Sassafras.". The text is illustrated with black-and-white photography and the occasional black and white line drawing. Maroon coloured boards with self embossed illustration of a tree to the lower front panel edge and self embossed title to the top quarter of the front panel. Gilt writing on the spine along with small gilt illustration of a tree. Bumping and rubbing to the head and to the heel of the spine and to the book corners. Shelfwear to the lower book edges and dust marks to the top. The front and back panel had become patchy. Offset tanning and browning to the endpapers. The internal papers have become slightly age toned. Illustrated dustwapper [ wraparound ), showing a stylised 1950s house and garden, with white and yellow writing on the front panel and white on the spine. Rubbing and slight chipping to the dustwapper corners and to the head and to the heel of the spine. A little loss to both the top and bottom spine edges. A few small close tears to the top dustwapper edge. Creasing and rubbing to both the top and bottom edges. Rubbing marks to the dustwapper panels and there is a small rub mark to the top right-hand corner of the front panel. The spine has become a sun darkened. There is a crease runs the full length of the rear fold over panel. Both the front and back rear fold over panel have become a little yellowed. Inserted loosely into the book are numerous other articles on gardening. A book about gardening for Australian and New Zealand conditions circa 1950. Digital image available upon request. The text is illustrated with copious black-and-white photographs, coloured photographs and black-and-white illustrations. Occasional map is also present. Beige coloured boards with black writing on the spine. Shelfwear to the lower book edges. A little browning to the page edges. Photographic dustwapper, showing on the front panel a Musk Lorikeet and on the back panel the flower of the Tasmanian Waratah. With white and blue writing on the front panel and black on the spine rubbing and a little chipping to be dustwapper corners and there is a 1.25 " tear to the top left-hand corner of the spine with associated creasing. Darkening of the spine and there are a few grubby marks as well. Volume 3: Australia's North -- published 1975 . ISBN -- 0-00-211441. 208 pages, preface by authors, bibliography and index. Dull blue coloured endpapers. The text is illustrated with copious black-and-white and coloured photography, black-and-white illustrations and maps. Beige coloured boards with black writing on the spine. A little shelfwear to the lower book edges and bumping to the top book edges. Some browning to the paper edges and the last three pages of the book and rear endpaper have become slightly dog eared. Photographic dustwapper, showing on the front panel, a white egret catching fish and on the rear panel a tropical landscape. The dustwapper has become slightly rubbed and the corners have been slightly chipped. There is a 0.75 " tear to the top corner of the front fold over. The spine has become somewhat darkened. These three volumes from an invaluable resource about to the flora and fauna of Australia. "When the four Peppernut children and their parents move into an old hunting lodge for the summer, they fell in love with the house and Paradis e Valley. A pool was their bathtub and their water came from a stream right into the stone sink in the kitchen. The water was always flowing and no one ever knew when a pollywog might wiggle through. Captain Peppernut, the boy, built a tree house ; Flitter Peppernut, the oldest girl, made a priincess' castle out of the family car; the twin sisters Tua A and Tua B explored Paradise Valley, and Daddy worked at his typewriter, for he was an author - but only when he had his hat on. It was a wo nderful, magical summer, and when it was over each member of the family used his ingenuity to keep forever the home they loved...."
