Beautiful album, containing 12 lithographs numbered 1-12, designed by Adolphe d'Hastrel, and lithographed by D'Hastrel, Ciceri, Muller, Bayot, Sabatier, and Clerget. Adolphe d'Hastrel was born in the Alsace, and spent his youth in Tours and surroundings. He started drawing at an early age, concentrating on the Alsacian landscapes. Later he concentrated on America. His lithographs are of great ethnological interest. The plates depict:- general view of Montevideo from the roads.- general view of Montevideo from the new cemetary.- cathedral in Montevideo.- balconies in Montevideo and a view on the harbour.- market in the old town.- costumes of the provinces of the Rio de la Plata.- view on the isle of Martin-Garcia.- debarking at the 'sable-bay' at the isle of Martin-Garcia.- Port del-Carmelo or of Las-Vacas in Uruguay.- view on the village l'Aguada, near Montevideo.- view of the city La Colonia de Sacramento at Rives de la Plata.- general view of Buenos-Ayres.

The rarely offered Flora Uruguaya, complete in four volumes, is offered loose in issue-wrappers. Old institutional stamps generally on the covers, a few might be present on text-pages. The issue wrappers are mixed, i.e. covers both for journal issues and separate flora issues are present. The wrappers are moderately to heavily worn and chipped smudged, there is some rusting on some of the spines from the old staples. The text-part is comlete - except for pages 167-68 in Tomo 3 which has a large text-loss - clean and unopened and is suitable for binding. One volume cover for binding is enclosed. A rare opportunity for any collector of botany or person interested in the region.
