"The eight volumes of YOUNG AMERICA'S MUSIC are devoted to musical compositions of every description. The more than 700 compositions have been selected with children and their interests in mind. The subject matter is arranged to grow with the child as he grows. VOLUME ONE is an introduction to music for very little children; it is divided into three sections: Cradle Songs which mother, big sisters and teachers may sing or teach the children to sing, Nursery Rhymes to which they can listen and in the singing of which they may join, Musical Games which provide action as well as the pleasure of singing and help develop a sense of musical rhythm. As the child grows, the subject matter becomes broader. VOLUME TWO is devoted to songs for girls and boys, songs which children may sing when called upon to entertain their friends. VOLUME THREE introduces Young America to stirring patriotic songs, folk songs of many nations, beautiful spirituals, sacred songs and hymns. As the books become older in content, no longer are they combination music and picture books. The child progresses from one selection to another scarcely knowing they are becoming more difficult. VOLUME FOUR contains Christmas songs and carols, excerpts from grand and light operas, some of which have been rearranged to make it possible for young musicians to sing the songs intelligently; there is also a series of vocal duets. With VOLUME FIVE the young student moves into the realm of piano music by classic, romantic and modern composers. Some of the pieces have been rearranged so that beginners and first and second grade pupils can play without too much effort. VOLUME SIX carries the young pianist further in enjoyment of carefully selected compositions by such eminent composers as Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, Scharawenka, Tschaikowsky and many others. Young folks who play these pieces soon learn that classic music is not dull or prosy, but full of life and beauty. VOLUME SEVEN conducts Young America on a musical tour through selections from the great grand operas, "Aida," "Rigoletto," "Il Trovatore," "Faust," "Romeo and Juliet," "Hansel and Gretel," to name a few. For those who prefer light opera, many delightful selections are to be found. VOLUME EIGHT provides a change of pace, and is devoted to duets for beginners, and duets of recreational character for more advanced players. For the youthful violinist in the family, a series of compositions for violin solo with piano accompaniment have been included; they have been edited so that players of equal ability can readily play them together. YOUNG AMERICA'S MUSIC is truly a unique library of music, not only for ages six to sixteen, but for the adult beginner or amateur who wishes to play for his own enjoyment, for in this collection of more than 700 pieces are to be found the works of such eminent composers as Johann Sebastian Bach, Johannes Brahms, Ludwig van Beethoven, Georges Bizet, Frederic Chopin, Anton Dvorak, Stephen Collins Foster, Charles Gounod, Alfred S. Gatty, Cornelius Gurlitt, Englebert Humperdinck, Franz Josef Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn, Franz Schubert, Johann Strauss, Giuseppe Verdi, Richard Wagner and many other important composers. The variety of material contained in this library is certain to suit most any musical mood.".
