Der besitzer der Bücher hat den Index zu den vier Bänden eigenhändig auf dem Vorsatzblatt eingetragen, elegante, kleine Schrift in rot und schwarz. Band 2, Volume the second: Kupfer "La marchande de gants" als Frontispiz, 448 paginierte Seiten. Kleiner Fleck auf Einband. Band 3, Volume the third: X, 410 paginierte Seiten. First Edition Each volume is beautifully bound by Riviere & Son in full 19th century calf with a triple gilt rule on all front and rear covers, five raised bands with fields decorated in gilt and two red leather labels stamped in gilt, gilt inner dentelles, marbelled end papers and all edges gilt. A spectacularly beautiful collection in near fine condition. Volume IX of TRISTRAM lacks a half title and leaf G1 which is supplied beautifully handwritten in pen and ink . Volume I of SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY is a 2nd state reading "vous" on page 150. Otherwise all first edition, first issue points are present including the called for author"s signatures.
