The collection consists of: I. Histoire de la Laura gerardiae, type nouveau de crustace parasite. Paris, Inst. de France, Mem. de l'Acad. des Sciences, 1882. 4to. 160 pp., three handcoloured engravings. Green cloth with Lacaze-Duthiers' own gilt library stamp and weapon. II. The same work in loose correction sheets pp. 1-72, 1-160 and descriptions of the plates 1-5, 9-16 (last plates 9-16 never published?) in many duplicates and hundreds of corrections with stamps of typographe Chamerot, dated 1881/82. III. Histoire des Ascides simples des Cotes de France pt. 2: Etudes des Especes. Paris, Archives de Zool. Exp., 1877. 220 pp., 14 partly handcoloured engravings and including 5 ll. of handwritten corrections. In original green cloth with Lacaze-Duthiers own gilt stamp and weapon. And IV. Memoire sur l'Anatomie et l'Embryogenie des Vermets (Vermetus triqueter et Vermetus semisurrectus Phil.) pt. 1: Anatomie (Serie zoologie, 1885). 88 pp. including description of plates 4-9 and engraved plates 4-9 itself. From Lacaze's own library, but this title without his corrections.* Unique collection of four important works by Henri de Lucaze-Duthiers (1821-1901), one of the great French marine invertebrate and embryogenetic scholars from the 19th century and founder of the Archives de Zoologie Experimentale. Lacaze-Duthiers studied medicine in Paris and became an assistant of Ducrotay de Blainville and Milne-Edwards. In 1865 he succeeded Achille Valenciennes as professor of the Mollusca, Vermes and zoophytes at the Paris Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle and in 1871 he was elected member of the Academie des Sciences. He founded the marine laboratories of Roscoff (Atlantic coast) and Banyuls-sur-Mer (Mediterranean). See DSB vol.7 p.545-46.

Handwritten manuscript by Lacaze-Duthiers on 40 philosophical lessons, consisting of 22 leaves and two blanks (last one with some lettering). Small repair on front cover. In later grey cloth portfolio.* Interesting manuscript by Lacaze-Duthiers, written at the time when he was studying Philosophy (during the years 1840/41).

(=35-37) and a few pages in photostat.* Next to the Bulletin de la Societe Zoologique de France the most important zoological and entomological journal in French and now very rare in any state. Founded by H. de Lacaze-Duthiers. Most of the Notes et Revue and the Biospeologie are included, it includes also a lot of Entomology. Please ask for the German counterpart, Zeitschrift für wissenschaftliche Zoologie ofwhich we hold some single volumes and the British counterpart, Journal of experimental Zoology vols. 1-280 with 5 suppl.
