"The artists book was designed and produced by McCarthy and Rhoades in Los Angeles and consists of different parts which all have different formats: Roberto Ohrt's "Vier heulende Fassaden" (28 x 21,5 cm, Typoskript, 42 Seiten, broschiert) + a number of photographs stuck into a slightly distorted reprint of Guy-Ernest Debord's "Memoires, Structures Portantes d'Asger Jorn, edite par l'Internationale Situationiste" (43 x 14 cm, 58 Seiten, Faksimile) + a piece of red carpet (25 x 20 cm) used as a cover. Finally the entire book was wrapped in plastic, an artistic method frequently found in the work of Jason Rhoades. On the one hand the packaging protects the book, on the other hand, it transformes it into an art object." One of only 500 copies signed by both artists. Untouched copy. Excellent. Exemplar. - Die Gruppe SPUR gab ab 1960 eine Zeitschrift heraus, mit der sie auf eine politische Gesamtkunst hinarbeiten wollte, um den Tachismus zu überwinden. 1961 wurden die ersten 6 Nummern vom Sittendezernat der Münchner Kriminalpolizei wegen des Verdachts der Obszönität und der Religionsbeschimpfung beschlagnahmt. - Etwas gebräunt, sonst gute Exemplare. - All published. All issues bound together with the four 'most important' manifesto's of the Spur-group such as Spur-Buch Band 1, Munich, January 1962. 28 x 29 cm, original cloth with colour-screenprint; all covers preserved, 28 original b/w lithographs and four original colour lithographs on inside pages, by members of Spur and Asger Jorn. The magazine Spur was published and edited by the group Spur (Lothar Fischer, Helmut Sturm, Heimrad Prem, HP Zimmer), from August 1960 to January 1962, the period when the members of the group constituted the German section of the Internationale Situationiste, famous for provoking the first scandals in post-war German cilture. This collected edition - published just before the exclusion of the group from the I.S. - also includes their best manifesto's: Manifest, Ein kultureller Putsch während ihr schlaft, Avantgarde ist unerwünscht, Januar-Manifest.
