Originally written in 1931, (pub. 1932) a Dystopian world set in London 2540 AD (632 A.F.) Huxley's frightening look at the future, a contrasting view to H.G. Wells' utopian novel "Men Like Gods". Huxley's dim outlook of the future and loss of indentity was influenced by a trip to the United States, his opinions of "Americanization" influenced by the proliferation of new technologies, control of industry, permissive youth culture, rise of commercialism, loss of family structure, etc. Huxley's nonfictional work Brave New World Revisited (1958) is his analysis of contemporary issues such as education, overpopulation, drug use, mind control and over organization.
