Garland, Patrick: The Incomparable Rex, London, United Kingdom Macmillan U.K. 1998
0333717961 Very Good
A biography of Rex Harrison. The author of this book worked with Harrison on "My Fair Lady" and came to know him well. As well as famed for his style, wit, and performance as Henry Higgins on both stage and screen, Harrison was also known for his numerous wives and fierce temper. From the Publisher Review of THE INCOMPARABLE REX THE INCOMPARABLE REX is an affectionate and witty memoir of one of Britain's great theatrical and cinematic talents: Rex Harrison. When he died in 1990, the English-speaking world lost one of its most eloquent and fastidious high comedians. He was famed for his urbane style, his mordant wit, his numerous wives and his truly appalling temper, apart from his legendary and much-loved performance as Professor Henry Higgins in MY FAIR LADY. This is not a conventional biography, but a collection of anecdotes, diary extracts, pen-portraits and personal reminiscences which give a flavour of this complex man, of the pressures of working with him and a large cast, and of reviving a great musical on the American stage.THE INCOMPARABLE REX is a classic theatrical memoir which will enchant and amuse its readers. Patrick Garland has directed an astonishing range of film, television and theatre productions, from Alan Bennett's first play FORTY YEARS ON, to the musical BILLY at Drury Lane and the stage and film versions of A DOLL'S HOUSE in New York. The original BRIEF LIVES, which he wrote and directed in 1968, held the Guiness Book of Records title for the longest-running one-man show for almost a decade. He directed Rex Harrison in the 1980 revival of MY FAIR LADY, and came to know him well while on tour Very Good hardcover 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Clean Copy

Mildred,Hill: Happy Birthday to You: Piano/Vocal, Sheet, WARNER BROTHERS PUBN, März 1995 ISBN: 0874874041
According to the Guiness Book of Records, Happy Birthday To You! is one of the world's most frequently sung songs. Words and music are by two sisters from Louisville, Kentucky: Patty Hill, a pioneer kindergarten teacher and Mildred Hill, a musician. They combined their talents to produce this song, suitable for children's voices as well as all others. Patty drew 3,000 teachers to a workshop she gave at the 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair. Shortly afterwards she was invited to establish the Department of Nursery School, Kindergarten, and First-Grade Education at Columbia University. She was the first woman to receive and honorary doctorate from Columbia.
