Curtis, George William, WORKS OF GEORGE WILLIAM CURTIS (SIX (6) VOLUMES). New York: Harper & Brothers. (c. 1856).

7 3/8 x 5 1/4. 3/4 light brown calf over marbled paper-covered boards. Three raised spine bands with title stamped in gilt in compartment. Marbled end papers and each volume has a silk, ribbong page marker. Top edges are gilt. This appears to be a later 19th century binding. Overall, the books are very good with the following exceptions; Prue & I has a stain on the upper 2" of spine and on the upper right corner of the pages; Potiphar has stain on 3/4" of spine and tiny portion of upper corner of pages. Also scrape on upper, front leather corner and Howadji in Syria has stain along upper 1" of covers and on right, upper corner of pages. Some overall light rubbing and shelf wear. This is a detailed description, but the books show very well and make a nice shelf appearance.; The volumes in this set are: NILE NOTES OF A HOWADJI; TRUMPS, A NOVEL; THE POTIPHAR PAPERS; LOTUS-EATING: A SUMMER BOOK; PRUE AND I;

Curtis, George William: Prue And I, New York, NY Harper & Brothers Publishers 1864

"I do not believe that any man can see softer skies than I see in Prue's eyes; nor hear sweeter music than I hear in Prue's voice; nor find a more heaven-lighted temple than I know Prue's mind to be." An admiring husband writes of couple's adventures together. My Chateaux. Titbottom's Spectacles. Our Cousin the Curate. Humor. Decorated, blind-stamped black cloth on board with gilt title. Spine frayed at heel and toe, corners worn, elegant "G.S. True" in nice calligraphy on front endpaper. Good.
