8vo [23 x 15 cm]; [xii], 316, [16, ads dated September 1909] pp, 16 plates from photos including frontis, index. orig pictorial gilt cloth, gilt title lettering on spine and cover, t. e. g., a few margins are slightly spotted, clean near fine copy. Massachusetts Horticultural Society 93. Farrer grew up in Yorkshire, where he planted a rock garden, and later went on to write the classic work on rock gardens, and traveled widely in Asia collecting plants. He describes his gardens from considerable knowledge of the plants and the ecologies. A picture of this book is available on request by email.
