Collection of rare editions of humanist works in contemporary binding, all well produced in a fine italic type.<B>Ad 1:</B> First Basel-edition of this work by the Florentine humanist A.D. Floccus (Fiocco) on the sacerdocy and the administration in ancient Rome. At the end, a work by Pomponius Laetus on the same subject, and a list of abbreviations by Valerius Probus is added. <B>Ad 2:</B> Rare Antwerp edition of Lucianus' Dialogues in the translation of Erasmus, first published at Louvain, 1512.<B>Ad 3</B>: Rare early edition of this very popular pedagogical work by the German humanist and professor at Leipzig Petrus Schade Mosellanus (1493?-1524). According to Buisson, the first edition was published in quarto by the same publisher in 1519, two editions appeared in 1521, at Mainz and Strassburg. The present edition, not listed in Buisson, includes as usual the Paedologia by the German Hellenist Christophorus Hegendorf (1500-1540), first published at Leipzig, 1511.
Good copy with occasionally a few old ms. annotations and underlinings.- (Recased, binding restored, a few small wormholes on front and rear sides, corner dam.; small library label on front paste-down; first and last lvs. sl. browned; some waterst.).
