Julius Viktor Carus (1823-1903), Zoologe. E. Vorlesungsankündigung mit U. ("J. Victor Carus"). O. u. D. 1 S. Qu.-kl.-8°. - Ankündigung von zwei Lehrveranstaltungen über "Theorie der Züchtung" und "Charakteristik der Hauptgruppen des Thierreichs". - J. V. Carus war Professor für vergleichende Anatomie und Direktor des Zoologischen Instituts an der Universität Leipzig, stand in Korrespondenz mit Charles Darwin und übersetzte u. a. dessen "Origin of Species" und "The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals" sowie Thomas Henry Huxleys "Man's Place in Nature" ins Deutsche. 1878 begründete er den "Zoologischen Anzeiger" und gehörte 1890 zu den Gründern der Deutschen Zoologischen Gesellschaft. - Papierbedingt etwas gebräunt und mit kleinen Stecknadeldurchstichen an den Ecken.
