Alger, Horatio, Jr. THE ADVENTURES OF A NEW YORK TELEGRAPH BOY, 1900 New York Street & Smith, Publishers

Wrappers Good+ Originally published in 1889, this book is one of the hardest Horatio Alger, Jr titles to find in the Street & Smith dime-novel form. The front cover features a man seated at a desk lifting money out of his wallet while a telegraph boy in a blue uniform looks on. Defects: This was originally a cheap paperback copy not meant to withstand the test of time, and therefore the book has several age-related defects. The paper wrappers and the pages are fragile, and pages are somewhat browned. There is a faintly diagonal crease down length of rear cover. Joints are lightly rubbed and there is mild creasing down length of spine. Previous owner's name, city and date (1912) are written in ink on the first page, which is a list of New Medal Library titles. The pages are free of chips, tears and writing, a remarkable detail given the age of the book and the cheapness of its construction. ; Medal Library No. 53; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; Rare--case sml white / red fictcat childcat
