Miller bgan as a fashion model in New York the 1920s before going to Paris and becoming a fashion and fine art photographer; during this period she coollaborated with Man Ray, often taking his fashion assignments to allow him more time to devote to painting---in fact, some of Miller's photographs were attributed to Ray. During World War II, she was the war correspondent for Vogue magazine; she covered such events as the London Blitz, the liberation of Paris, and the concentration camps at Dachau and Buchenwald.
