The Population of Indonesia (Population Studies) - Softcover

The Population of Indonesia is a study that aims to contribute to a better understanding of the regional population dynamics, both retrospectively and prospectively. The study considers population in a multiregional system. Regional demographic processes are interlinked and jointly determine the growth and structure of the population in the different regions. Recently, the regional dimension procures a prominent role in development planning in Indonesia. The decentralization policy, implemented in 2001, emphasizes the regional dimension in Indonesia development.
This book outlines a detailed analysis of the changes in Indonesian regional demographic variables during the last three decades. It provides an assessment of the past population projections, as well as the advantages offered by available demographic data sources. The multiregional projections result in plausible and likely size of the population in Indonesia and its regions up to the year 2020.
