This is a great book for families who really enjoy art activities. There are many ideas for simple paint-based activities - each is given a messy and complexity rating. The emphasis on fun rather than on creating masterpieces is refreshing - even the youngest child will find the challenges manageable. Be warned though, there are suggestions for painting the lawn with acrylics... not for the faint hearted! --Education Otherwise

'But Easy to Clean Up' runs the subtitle. Hmmm. The author says the book is a compilation of experiences that may take a bit more time to set up, 'might make a splatter or two on the floor and leave a sticky bucket to rinse out', but the creative process and artistic experiences far outweigh the extra effort. Activities include: hair dryer painting, bubble painting, doormat prints, drip and fold with a friend, rope painting and toilet paper play day. Projects such as 'living pendulum art' and 'skate-n-paint' are for the truly adventurous - teacher that is. As with the author s other books, projects are graded for experience, preparation time and, in this case, messiness. --Start (magazine published by the National Society for Art Education)
