Ecopsychologists argue that the world is a living system of which we are a part. They are more interested in our relations with the earth than with each other. They generally have little to say about counselling and psychotherapy. On the other hand, counsellors often work as though counselling is an exercise carried out between two individuals without reference to the world outside. Bernie Neville brings these two viewpoints together. He takes both personal counselling and the planet seriously. He draws upon thinkers such as Naess, Whitehead, Geyser, Rogers and Jung to explore these themes. His approach is new in that he brings these seemingly diverse ideas and theories together in this book.

Dr Bernie Neville is an Honorary Professor ant Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne. A university teacher and researcher in both education and counselling since 1972, he has a keen interest in exploring the impact of interpersonal relationships on learning, counselling and management.
