Pierre Englebert is professor of political science at Pomona College, USA. He is author of the award-winning Africa: Unity, Sovereignty, and Sorrow and State Legitimacy and Development in Africa. Kevin C. Dunn is associate professor of political science at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, USA. His recent publications include The Politics of Origin in Africa: Autochthony, Citizenship, and Conflict and African Guerrillas: Raging Against the Machine.
