Howard Lawrence Scheiner was born to modest beginnings and raised with great love in New York City. A graduate of The Mount Sinai School of Medicine, he feels privileged to practice medicine. He shares a busy practice in Manhattan with his medical partner of thirty-plus years, specializing in Internal Medicine and HIV Medicine. Combining many loves, he founded "The Brent Varner Project, Inc". a charity that provides free HIV services to those in need through The Actors Fund of America. Through a close association as a major donor to Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS, he had the opportunity to appear on stage in many Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. His love affair with the theater culminated in his own Off-Broadway play, '"And the stars were shining . . . "' which he wrote, directed, and produced at the Jose Quintero theater. A life-long love of music and a bit of inexplicable inspiration can be found in his "Genesis Sonata" for piano. It had its public debut in 2009, and he happily shares it on youtube.com. The tantalizing possibility that it might be choreographed into a ballet thrills him. His piano remains a source of great pleasure and his sonata has since developed into a more extensive piano opus. He remains bound to the city of his birth and currently resides in Manhattan with a menagerie of small dogs and close friends.
