Ghassan K. Abou-Alfa, MD-Gastrointestinal Service, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Weill-Medical College, Cornell University, New York, New York Ghassan K. Abou-Alfa, MD, is a member of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where he specializes in the treatment of primary liver cancer. He received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and completed his post-doctoral training at Yale University School of Medicine, before joining the faculty of Memorial Sloan-Kettering. His research is dedicated to improving the effectiveness of cancer therapy by incorporating small biological molecules that target cancer therapy into the treatment regimen for chemotherapy-resistant liver cancer. Dr. Abou-Alfa is a strong advocate for raising awareness about liver cancer and has lectured on the subject at universities worldwide.
