Reseña del editor:
A hostile environment, a vanished way of life . . . Nik wants to become a great hunter like his father and his older brother Sitok—but neither one has taken time to teach him. When his parents go missing in a flash flood, the priority becomes an inland search as soon as winter snow on the tundra can support their dog sled. But then a new problem arises when strange visitors arrive from the far south and Nik and his family become responsible for their welfare. After Sitok is injured following an attack from a polar bear, Nik must struggle to somehow find food for seven people, among them his beloved Grandmother Kiti and his new friend Pah-nee. Arctic Circles is an adventure—historical fiction set in a real place at a real time with real people who, sadly, no longer exist. Praise for Arctic Circles: “Here we have exciting adventures in a historical and cross-cultural novel! Phyl Manning has done her homework . . . and obviously understands a good deal about people besides!”—Roy Erford With characters that walk off the page, Manning weaves her reader into the icy fabric of the Arctic.”—Chicki Mallan, Travel Writer & Author (Moon Handbooks)
