Very readable account on British exploration of Bhutan, i.a. the missions of George Bogle and Samuel Turner. After the peaceful first contacts followed the failed mission of Ashley Eden and the War between the two countries in 1865. In the first half of the 20th century the Political Agents for Tibet were also in charge for Bhutan, the best known for his Bhutan photos and admiration for Bhutan is John Claude White.
