In 2006, the Holy Smokers Too competition BBQ team celebrated its 25th consecutive year of competing in the Memphis in May International BBQ Fest - the longest continuous competition record for any team at MIM. This was the year Billy Bob Billy retired from active competition. He now spends his BBQ time working with new teams and individuals who want to benefit from his years of experience and research in smoking BBQ. William. M. Morris, Sr. (a.k.a. Billy Bob Billy) has been competing, judging, and teaching classes on competitive BBQ contests for over twenty-five years. Over 500 students have attended his Championship BBQ Cooking Techniques classes at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville during the first six years the classes have been offered, beginning in 2002. Attendees consistently mark "exceeds expectations" on the class evaluation forms. His cooking classes are also featured at local and regional contests like Charlotte's Blues. Brews & BBQ contest during their annual Charlotte Shout culinary celebrations. Classes are also held at Gourmet's Market and other epicurian stores in the Knoxville area. His BBQ Boot Camp in the Smokey Mountains is a unique culinary experience relished by those fortunate enough to register for the limited spots. It's two days of tall tales and techniques that will jump-start any BBQ'ers competitive spirit. He is also a certified judge for Memphis in May (now Memphis Barbecue Network) and is active in judging in the MBN circuit as well as others. In addition, he has been a professional journalist for the East TN Medical News and their affiliates for over twenty years, a published poet and a freelance writer.
