Darcy The Daydreamer - Softcover

Darcy is a cute, inquisitive little redheaded girl who's observation of everyday life inspires her to daydream, and it inevitably catapults her into fantasy adventures. She has two daydream adventures in her first book: She becomes a deep sea diver hunting for buried pirate's treasure off the coast of Mexico, and in the second, she finds herself as the first astronaut landed on Mars, exploring the planet and encountering adorable little Martians. This adventurous, colorful book helps teach kids to dream big and express their creativity, but keep their feet firmly planted on the ground by obeying their parents, doing their homework and chores, and helping other people.

"My father was a 1st Lt. and my mother worked as a civilian for the Army. They met in Germany where my father was stationed. I was born in the '50's on an American Army base. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and was raised Catholic, the second eldest of 4 sisters and two brothers. In 1984 I joined the Army as a power generator repairmen and was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX. After my discharge in 1986, I remained in the area and married in 1988 for 15 years. I floated from job to job until 1994, when I decided to go back to school, earning a degree in Commercial Art in 1995. I exhibited talent as an artist and writer from a very early age, enjoying many hours sketching and hatching ideas for short stories and books. In 1997 I fulfilled a burning desire to write and illustrate a children's picture book, and that's when Darcy was born. The idea just sort of evolved from my own imagination and life experiences. As a child I daydreamed of becoming great and exciting things. There's a lot of Darcy in me! Initially, I only wanted the self enrichment of putting together a children's book, but as time went on, it became more important for me to share my book with the world. For four years Darcy graced the pages of an old sketchbook which sat on a shelf collecting dust. In 1998 I began employment at a local newspaper as a graphic designer. This is where I honed my skills and experience needed to digitize my manuscript and set it up for press. In 2002 the book was finally copyrighted. My big dream is to give a portion of the proceeds to charity to help kids live a better life. I want to keep creating more books and hopefully Ican make a difference in their disadvantaged lives. Darcy's just getting started on her adventures - there's many more to come! I want Darcy to become a children's classic, a timeless favorite among all children and adults.
